Three brothers. Three distinct and determined personalities. One house full of laughter, energy, creativity, and talent that extends beyond the Greiner family walls. Cayd, Ty, and Dayne have never lacked adventure, growing up among foothills and prairies in Calgary, Alberta--also known as the “Canadian home of country music”. And while they are all fond of sports and the outdoors, it’s their connection to music that solidifies their brotherhood the most. Inspired by the styles of Ed Sheeran, Old Dominion, and Dan + Shay, the guys are forging their own artistic path as NewLaw. With a knack for writing genre-bending songs, playing multiple instruments, and executing vibrant harmonies, the siblings are well on their way to crossing borders and leaving their tracks wherever they go.

The musical journey began as kids with all three learning piano. It didn’t take long for the oldest, Cayd, and middle brother, Ty, to gravitate toward the guitar, while young extrovert Dayne found his perfect place as a drummer. Originally performing around town as solo acts, the brothers were encouraged by peers and mentors around ten years ago to give the trio option a run. Local gigs at coffee shops, farmers markets, and other venues taught the boys two key ingredients--stage presence and perseverance. They released their debut EP, “Show You There’s Hope” in 2015, followed by a successful second EP two years later called “You + Me.” One of their more current singles, “Next to Me”, reached the Canadian Country Billboard Charts and the CBC Country’s Top 40 in 2020. Their home territory has certainly taken notice by rewarding them with several nominations for their work, including three GMAs (Gospel Music Association), two YYC Music (Calgary Music Awards) nods, and a WCMA (Western Canadian Music Awards). Even producers of the popular competition show, America’s Got Talent, came calling with an invitation to audition in LA. 50,000 initial hopefuls were narrowed down to the top 225—NewLaw taking one of those coveted spots. The experience of singing an original at a live TV tryout lit a fire under them while the world cheered them on.

And although the AGT journey did not continue, Nashville’s interest proved to be a different story. The brothers caught the attention of heavy hitter songwriters and producers Brian White and Wil Nance, who have both scored top Billboard hits for artists like George Strait, Rascal Flatts, and Brad Paisley, just to name a few. Throughout 2020, they have spent time in the studio on Music Row with award winning songwriters, producers, and musicians, working on their third EP, slated for a 2021 release. Their latest single as of October 22nd, “Wish I Was There”, combines mellow licks and easy going vocals to create a relaxed mindset and a danceable beat. Always ready to spread positivity and cheer, NewLaw has also put out their highly anticipated, original Christmas single called “It’s Christmas Time” and will soon have a video to follow. Most recently, they have signed with Casadie Pederson of Muse Creative Management (Nashville) and Adrian Lock of Pitbull Promotions (Vancouver) for representation.

Cayd, Ty, and Dayne thrive on creating together and taking turns in the spotlight. They keep their sound fresh by switching off on leads and harmonies when it comes to singing and by writing individually and together. Their writing styles vary between bluesy, alternative feels, country ballads, and modern up-tempo pop beats. But at the end of the day, they can always agree---family comes first. And even if a difference of opinion arises from time to time, that means listening to one another, being patient with one another, and ultimately combining a variety of ideas to create the strongest finished product.

“Working with your brothers is like working with your best friends,” the trio admits. “It seems like we’re constantly laughing and having a good time. It’s hard not to when you’re pursuing your dreams with the people you are closest too in life.”
